Dual Credit & Weighted Grades

Weighted Grade Policy

The Board of Education has approved a weighted grade system for grades in selected upper level courses, beginning with the 2007-2008 school year. The following courses will be given additional point value in the calculation of the student's grade point average:
  1. Any Advanced Placement Course (AP)
  2. Any Dual Credit Senior English Course
  3. Any 3rd or 4th year PLTW course
  4. Any Level IV Foreign Language Course
The following weighted system shall be calculated in regards to these courses:
Regular Grade:
  • A 4.0 Weighted: 5.0
  • A- 3.667 Weighted: 4.667
  • B+ 3.333 Weighted: 4.333
  • B 3.0 Weighted 4.0
  • B- 2.667 Weighted 3.667
  • C+ 2.333 Weighted 3.333
Any grade below C+ DOES NOT receive a weighted grade factor.

Weighted Classes for the 2016-2017 School Year:
  • AP US History
  • AP Calculus AB
  • English Composition 111
  • Spanish IV
  • French IV
  • AP Biology
  • AP CHemistry
  • AP Physics
  • AP Macroeconomics
  • AP Art History
  • AP Music Theory
  • Any 3rd or 4th year Project Lead the Way (PLTW) course.
Dual Credit Courses

Dual credit courses are courses offered by North Decatur High School, at the high school with North Decatur Staff, that allow a student to receive high school credit toward graduation and college credit. Our dual credit agreement is through Ivy Tech. It is important for students interested in dual credit courses to check the college they wish to attend to see if these credits with transfer.
