The Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA) and Vincennes University (VU) share the goal of ensuring Indiana’s manufacturers have the skilled workforce needed to be successful. In an effort to recruit and graduate more women, VU’s College of Technology is opening its first living/learning technology community exclusively for women. Forty-six (46) women will have the opportunity to reside and pursue degrees in high-skill, high-demand fields. VU will offer this group of women nearly $20,000 each in room/board scholarships–this fully covers room and board expenses! These scholarships for women are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more, click here.

Trine University is offering Alumni Referral Awards to incoming freshmen for the 2017-2018 school year. 
Alumni Referral Awards will be available to any new prospective student officially referred by an alumnus of the University who applies, is admitted and enrolls at Trine University.  The future Trine University alum will receive a $250 annual Alumni Referral Award. This award is renewable up to a total value of $1,000 over four years (undergraduate only).  NOTE: Legacy Award recipients are not eligible for the Alumni Referral Award. January 29, 2017 Healthcare Leaders Scholarship $1,000 Nurse.org is seeking applications for the Healthcare Leaders Scholarship. To be eligible for the $1000 award, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, be pursuing a degree related to healthcare, and submit a 600-1000 word essay byJanuary 29th. Scholarship is offered once a year and award is paid directly to the student.

Scholarship $1,000 Applicants must: 1) be graduating students of an accredited public, private or parochial high school; 2) live within the primary service area of Fountaintown Gas Co., Inc. and have a parent or grandparent who has been a customer of Fountaintown Gas Co., Inc. for a minimum of 36 consecutive months; 3) have a grade point average between 2.5 and 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; and 4) plan to pursue a post-secondary education credential.

November 1 Foreign Language Scholarship $1,500 Create a remake of a movie scene where you speak in your target language. You may produce a French, Spanish, or German remake of a scene from an American movie, or you may re-create a scene from a French, German, or Spanish-speaking movie. For either option, get creative with the genre, characters, setting, music, and any additional elements that will really make the scene your own. Make sure to show us what you’ve learned about the culture in question. Most importantly, have fun!

 The History and Significance of the 7th Amendment Essay $4000

Students will write an essay over the topic, "Why is the right to trial by jury (the 7th amendment) critical to ensuring justice and democracy?"

Essay must be 5-7 pages long and in MLA style.

Possible topics to cover in the paper include:
-What was the historical background behind the decision to pass the 7th  amendment in the United States Constitution, and Indiana's counterpart in the  State Constitution?
-How is the right to trial by jury similar or different from rights guaranteed in  other countries?
-What is the purpose of trial by jury? Why is having a jury of peers important in  democracy?

Winner will be judged based on originality of work, content, and intellectual passion.
